BRANDON: Hey! Brandon here with your Weekly Update. I actually just finished my signing at JordanCon and they gave me a “Top Doug” thing, so I'm wearing that. And I've got your update.

So Mistborn Screenplay is at, Bing! 66%. So two-thirds mark. We're moving right along. Book 3 of Riftwake is at, Bing! 25%. So Janci made some motion on that. I think she was at 20% last week. So we're both moving right along.

A few things for you. Today is the launch of the Unbroken anthology on Kickstarter. This is a charity anthology in the sequence with Unfettered and things like that in order to pay for medical bills and things like this. And there is part of the upcoming story, Songs of the Dead, the novel that’s coming out, there's a section from that in there. Usually the Unfettered anthologies just kind of have ephemera or little pieces of things or things that authors didn't have another place to publish. So we've got that in there and I did sign those.

So exciting stuff. It's time for our first set of Nexus announcements for 2026. All right? So Exhibitor, Panelist, Media and Squire applications are now open. So check the link in the description. And we hope to see you there. We need tons of Squires. Squires is paid. We hope that we can make good use of you and have a fun time.

So more information about badge sales is coming later this spring. We'll probably do the same thing we did last time, where there's going to be like a mailing list involved and things like that, so that you don't have to just sit in a queue and wait. You'll know if you have a chance to buy a badge. And we're trying to do our best to avoid people sitting in queues for hours, not knowing if they're going to be able to buy a badge, or things like that. Last year, we were able to get tickets for about 80% of the people who signed up for the mailing list, and none of the people who didn't sign up for the mailing list. So, when this happens, we will tell you what to do and how to get tickets.

You can also submit programming suggestions beginning today, so get those suggestions to us.

I am now hopping on a plane to head to New York to do, like, meetings with the publisher. I was on the East Coast in Atlanta. Now I get to go have fun publisher meetings. Yay! And then I get to come home and have a writing retreat. So I will probably be able to do a Weekly Update next week, but the week after, I will probably be at my writing retreat. So if there is one, it won't be me. Anyway, we'll see you then or not then, depending on the week.

Brandon Sanderson smiling with the words "Dwarf Galaxy" and a map of Cosmere constellations
Apr 20, 2026
What is the Cosmere? In the Cosmere, there was an event 10,000 years ago called the Shattering of Adonalsium. And at the Shattering of Adonalsium, a bunch of deific beings were created that have little bits of this greater, more powerful, god-like individual or being or entity. And the 16 Shards, as we call them, became the forces, the deities, that run the Cosmere, but they are ordinary people who ascended to these powers.
Brandon Sanderson next to Big Ben with the text "Weekly Update: Popping in to London"
Apr 29, 2026
I will be out next week. So expect either no Weekly Update or expect somebody else to be in this chair because I am going to go to a writing retreat where I will work some on the screenplay, but some on just some revisions for Mistborn. And then I will be back for just a brief amount of time and then out to London. So we will see you there—not at the writing retreat—in London.
