BRANDON: Hey! Brandon here with your Weekly Update. Just got back from JordanCon, had a blast there, and I have some updates for you.
So first off, Mistborn screenplay, Bing! 71%. Still moving along, looking pretty good. Heading toward Act 3. So kind of a shorter Act 3 and a longer Act 2 in the Mistborn screenplay. So feeling still pretty good about that. Should make some good progress and then it will slow down a ton when I am in London later this month. We'll talk about that in a second. But also, Janci has, Bing!, 25% done of Book 3 of Riftwake. That's no change from last week, so she’s been working on other things.
So London signing info. So I have signings at London MCM, which is the London ComiCon. They're available this Thursday at 5:00 P.M. BST, not MST, which I assume is some sort of British Standard Time. Is that what it is? Yes, British Standard Time.
Click the link in the description. So these are going to be lightning signings and traditional signings. If you're not sure what the difference is, traditional is I'm at a chair, you come up, we chat briefly, I personalize your book. Those take me a long time. And so because of that, we added on top of those, these things we call lightning signings, where I can do three or four times as many people in the same amount of time, where everyone stands in line, and I'll go person by person and sign their books. Because I'm moving, it's actually a lot faster. I'm not personalizing, and there's not as much chit chat, but you do get the book signed. And I try not to like just zip through the signing, right? Like I try to actually do a good signature and everything with it, but it does move us along faster. So we have both of those available for both Friday and Saturday at the Dragonsteel booth.
So two more quick reminders about London. First off is I will be doing the event with Joe Abercrombie. He is wonderful. I really like being with Joe. He does occasionally make fun of me in amusing and interesting ways. We did sell out of these tickets and the venue asked if they could sell online tickets, a cheaper sort of little online ticket. I told them yes. I always like helping bookstores because the venue is a bookstore. So if you want to go to the link in the description, you can buy a live stream ticket. It also will end up on my channel for free, just if you want to be there when it's happening. And this does help out the store. So I told them we would go ahead and let them do that, as long as they understood we were going to put it on my channel for free eventually. So check that out if you're interested.
And a reminder, Forbidden Planet, which is the fantastic bookstore there in London that we love so much. They are one of the stores that had me in back when I was a nobody. I've signed at Forbidden Planet so many times, and it's been fun to watch the signings go from, “Here are 15 people, come to see Brandon,” to, “Hey, we're filling the store,” to, “Hey, they can't all fit in the store,” to now we have to do these off-site signings. So Forbidden Planet has always treated me just with just so much enthusiasm and class. I love the store.
We have our Dragon Steel pop-up booth. Forbidden Planet has cleaned out a big chunk of their shop so that we can move in for three days. We'll be there Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday just before London MCM. Then we're going to take our booth and move it to London MCM. So if you aren't going to London MCM and you want to just see our booth, or if you want to have more of probably a relaxed shopping experience—MCM can be a bit packed and things like that—head to the Forbidden Planet, their London megastore, and check out what it looks like for us to have a pop-up.
They will have signed books. I pre-signed a bunch. We put them in the shipping container, and they are in the ocean right now. Hopefully not, you know, in the ocean, more on the ocean. And we'll have a lot of kind of our exclusive merch and things like that. And leatherbounds, which you can get without any shipping costs. This is one of our ways that we're trying to make it so that those of you in the UK do not have to spend quite so much on shipping as you can just come and buy the books. There's no markup for the shipping there. They're just at the regular price. So we put those all on the big container ship, which is how we're trying to save you some money. So if you aren't attending MCM, make sure to check us out. But if you are coming to MCM, that'll all get packed up and move there.
Just one last little note, the Unbroken anthology is live on Kickstarter. This is a charity anthology to pay for medical bills for one of the participants. I'm not sure how much they've all announced about all of that. So I won't go into details, but charity in that it'll go to pay for medical bills. And there's a chapter from Songs of the Dead in there, which I wrote with Peter Orullian. So if you aren't familiar with those anthologies, go check them out. They're a thing that Sean Speakman puts together. He's a great editor and they've all been for some sort of charity drive or another.
I will be out next week. So expect either no Weekly Update or expect somebody else to be in this chair because I am going to go to a writing retreat where I will work some on the screenplay, but some on just some revisions for Mistborn. And then I will be back for just a brief amount of time and then out to London. So we will see you there—not at the writing retreat—in London.
