BRANDON: Hello! Brandon here from the past. I'm actually in London right now, but before I left, I recorded this Weekly Update for you because there's some things that you need to know about. So Brandon from the past hopes that Brandon from the future is having a wonderful time and I guess present from the present.
Anyway, as for percentages, I honestly don't know where I'll be, probably not very far. I probably won't have moved at all because this is a very busy week for me in London. So I am just going to bing at Bing! No Bing.
I do have other cool updates because it's time for Dragonsteel Nexus tickets to go up. If you aren't familiar with how we do this, in order to try to keep things a little more level, a little more even, and to keep you from sitting in lines waiting, we have a drawing for tickets. We draw huge swaths of you if you've signed up for our mailing list, and then you get a period of time to buy a ticket if you want one, up to four. And then if you don't buy during that window, then we choose another swath, and we just go through everyone who's on that mailing list first. Last year we got to the majority of people who signed up for the mailing list. So if you're on that, you will most likely be getting an e-mail coming to you saying, “Hey, you've got this window to buy tickets to Nexus.
This was really successful last year. Again, most people got a chance who signed up, and you didn't have to stress quite so much or sit in line. So we're pleased with the situation. And we hope that you enjoy getting your Nexus tickets. But there's some things you need to know about before you buy Nexus tickets.
First off is our featured guests. Every year we have some featured guests come. These are people that we enjoy their books, and we hope that you want to get their books signed. So we have four featured guests this year.
First is the awesome Martha Wells. If you haven't watched Murderbot, it's really fun. Emily and I did a podcast from Intentionally Blank about our enjoyment of the Murderbot books and television show. And Martha is going to be joining us.
We also have S.A. Chakraborty. She wrote City of Brass, which is a book that I really like. Emily also read it recently. It's a delightful Arabian-inspired fantasy novel, really cool. I'd recommend it.
We have Sarah Beth Durst, who writes cozy fantasies. She just published a book called The Far Away Inn.
And then we have Mr. Matt Dinneman, who is tearing up the charts lately, who writes Dungeon Crawler Carl, which I have finally read. Well, it's not finally now, it was a few months ago, but it's really fun. And so you all know about Matt Dinneman. He's great.
So they're all going to be here this year. So bring your books to be signed.
We also have two of our artists joining us. So we have Tran. Tran, you might recognize. She did some work for the cover of Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, the TOR edition. Tran Nguyen is also the artist for Fires of December, the Dragon Steel Secret Project Edition. And I think she's doing a bunch of stuff for the TOR edition as well. So Tran is just fantastic. And I think you're all going to love meeting her. And you can get your copies of Fires of December signed. So come see Tran.
And Jake Parker, he's the person that we tapped to do the Skyward leatherbounds. He is kind of doing those, art-wise, soup to nuts. He's doing the whole thing. He got the whole pitch for us. It's really cool what he's doing. I'm really pleased with how the Skyward leatherbound is turning out. So come meet Jake. And the Skyward leatherbound will be out so you can come get your Skyward leatherbound signed by the artist.
So let's talk about the World Hopper Ball. So this year we're experimenting a lot with this. And this year instead of the World Hopper Ball, we want to try something else. We're going to do an after party one night instead. Kind of something bigger. It's going to be in the main ballroom. And it'll still be a ticketed event, but a less expensive ticket. So the idea is just as we try different things, we want to get your feedback on what you like and what you don't like. And so this is an experiment and we're hoping that you'll come and you'll let us know what you think about that, if we should do more world hopper balls, if we should do more of these, if we should have a mix of them, different years. But that's what our plan is right now. So those tickets will be up with the tickets to Nexus. And it's going to be a nice party, exciting event. But it'll be in the giant ballroom for everybody one night rather than split up across each of the nights in a smaller ballroom.
So I don't think I'll be here next week. I think another officer will be here next week and I will have been recording in London last week. So I don't know what's going on, but hey, I hope that you all come to Nexus.
