Here's a quick TL;DR of Brandon Sanderson's Weekly Update:

• Moment Zero (non-Cosmere novella) is finished at 50,000 words. It will be part of a collection with Snapshot and Perfect State, expected to release next year.
• Janci’s book Blightfall (follow-up to Skyward series) is at 45% completion.
• The Most Boring Book Ever (Brandon’s new picture book) is out today. A live event will be streamed at 6:00 PM Mountain Time.

  • Brandon will mostly be signing books.

• Mistborn Deck Building Game releases on October 1st at Dragonsteel's bookstore. Brandon personally playtested and helped design it.

BRANDON: Brandon here with your Weekly Update, wearing my very awesome hat that was put on me several seconds ago.

First up, the non-Cosmere novella that I've been writing, I have a name for it. It's called Moment Zero, and it is, Bing! 100% We are finished with Moment Zero at just over 50,000 words, so a really significantly sized novella. For frame of reference, novels are around 80,000 to 100,000 words. So this is a little over half of an average novel, or, you know, one-tenth of a Stormlight book. 

But it'll be our cornerstone for a collection including things like Snapshot, which just had some really nice movement as a television show that I hope I'll be able to announce very quickly. And Perfect State, which was nominated for the Hugo. So this collection will have a lot of great stories in it, and a lot of little kind of Brandon ephemera here and there. So I think you guys will really enjoy it. We are going to start planning to release that for Nexus next year. so Moment Zero, be on the lookout for that.

Janci's book Blightfall, Bing! Is at 45%. That is the follow up to the Skyward series. And I have read it, and the first draft was great, so I'm going to assume that the next draft is even greater. I think you guys will really enjoy it.

Hey! I have a book out today. The Most Boring Book Ever, my picture book, is out. We are, maybe as you're watching this or soon after, going to be doing a live event. We are going to livestream it. The internet could crap out on us. You never can tell when you're going to a location you haven't been to before. So if so, we'll upload ASAP. But our plan is to stream it. So join us tonight, 6:00 PM Mountain Time, where we'll be streaming that on this channel. Kazu is delightful, if you guys haven't ever met Kazu. He's a reason for coming, even if you've heard plenty from me, which if you're at this channel you might well have. And we have an interview with him on our blog that you should go read, because he is delightful.

I also will be at FanX this week. FanX is Salt Lake's local Comic Con. I enjoy it there. They run a good show. I am doing mostly signings. We are kind of moving a little bit more into that mold where instead of doing a ton of panels, people, we feel, just want to have a chance to get their book signed because I don't do that as much anymore. So I'm only doing one panel. It's my spotlight panel. They have finally put us in the giant room. So please come if you're there so that we can prove to them that they should have put us in the giant, giant room, not just the medium giant room. So really, if you're planning to come, I plan to do a reading. I plan to show off some cool artwork and things, and of course, the Q&A. So we're trying to snaz up my keynote addresses at big Comic Cons just a little bit more with announcements and with kind of art reveals and things like that. So I think you will really enjoy it. 

So join me Saturday, the 28th, 2:30 PM, at FanX. I'll be doing a ton of signings. They are sold out. We didn't charge for them, but, you know, the tickets are all gone. We're running it through FanX's system this time. But if you didn't get into one of the signings, we are in their biggest room this year, so come see me at the panel. Our booth is Booth #2354. 2-3-5-4. And we have some new merch items, which is perhaps why I am wearing this hat. 

So we have, looks like one of you GenZ loving flat brimmed hats. It feels so strange on my head. I am so used to, you know, nice, curved brims. But people like their flat brims these days. We also have beanies. We have the Bridge Four beaning with a nice little Bridge Four insignia on it. We have the Kholin family pin pack. Right? This is Dalinar, Jasnah, Navani, and two others. Right? Adolin and Renarin, I assume. So this will be for sale there. If you like to collect our character pins, these are delightful. Dalinar is super grumpy. It's great. And we have a puzzle. These were a big hit, the puzzles that we did at Nexus last year. So we've got a Final Empire puzzle, Isaac's original art there. One of the very first art pieces that he and I ever collaborated on is this map. And so you can get a puzzle of it. Hey! So anyway, come see us. Also, I hope that you guys will have a look at The Most Boring Book Ever. Our booth at FanX will have a game called The Most Boring Quest Ever, where you can come and perform very boring quests that my team has come up with for a little prize. So do stop by Booth #2354.

Last thing to make you aware of is the Mistborn deck building game is coming October 1st at our bookstore. I have played the Mistborn deck building game. This is one, like, I'll be frank with you guys. I probably won't play the board game when it's come. Maybe I'll play it once. I'm more of a deck builder person. I really enjoyed the deck building game. And so this is with Brotherwise. I did play testing of this myself because you know me and my Magic cards and my deck builders and things like that. And I gave a ton of feedback, and they have designed it. This is the one that's kind of designed to my specs. Again, when the board game comes, I'll let Dan tell you how awesome it is. but I can tell you the deck building game is a lot of fun. So that's October 1st. Again, we're not running a crowdfunding campaign for that. We don't want to overwhelm you with those. It'll just be for sale at the bookstore, the Dragonsteel bookstore, if you want one.
