We are hiring a full-time HR Generalist for our offices in Pleasant Grove, Utah. This is an exempt, in-office position.

Description

Reporting to the HR Director, the HR Generalist will be responsible for a spectrum of HR functions. As a member of a small team, their responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, developing and implementing HR policies and procedures, navigating and resolving the intricate aspects of employee relations, administering employee benefits programs and payroll, conducting training sessions on related topics, consulting with departments on performance management, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and coordinating hiring and onboarding. The HR Generalist will help us provide excellent service to our employees by being a key point of contact for employee questions and our HR systems. The ideal candidate is a dynamic HR professional who can effectively handle the intricacies of HR management and administration with confidence, empathy, confidentiality, discretion, and independent judgment, while endeavoring to make Dragonsteel an awesome place to work.

Responsibilities

  • Research, administer, and coordinate employee benefits programs such as 401(k) participation and paid time off, which includes working with third party benefits providers and answering related employee questions
  • Manage bimonthly payroll, including coordinating with ADP supervisors to confirm timestamp exceptions and approve timesheets
  • Monitor employee relations, and provide guidance and support to resolve workplace issues and conflicts which includes conducting investigations into claims of harassment or other company-guideline violations 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and practices, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company standards
  • Maintain the employee handbook and assist employees with the interpretation of new and existing policies
  • Complete administrative tasks such as preparing HR documents, record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry 
  • Collaborate with management to address staffing needs and workforce planning, and administer the hiring process including recruiting, providing hiring recommendations, conducting background and reference checks, and distributing job confirmation letters and other internal communication
  • Ensure thorough onboarding of new employees including benefits enrollment, company policies and benefits education, legal documentation, training, ongoing employee communication, etc
  • Conduct professional training sessions on HR related topics for employees and managers, and administer legal requirements and standards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role, including expertise with benefits administration, addressing employee workplace issues, recruiting and staffing, providing HR support across multiple departments, and employee engagement initiatives 
  • In-depth working knowledge of HR principles, procedures, administration, software, and employment laws and standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills, negotiation skills and a self-starter with the ability to meet frequent deadlines
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or Google Workspace equivalent applications
  • Able to sit for prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Experience with ADP is preferred
  • Focuses on resolving conflict effectively, maintains confidentiality, handles sensitive information with discretion, and keeps emotions under control, while remaining open to others’ ideas 
  • Completes assigned projects to the best of their ability, makes timely requests for clarification, seeks to collaborate with fellow team members, and shows focus and care for the consistency and accuracy of their work
